Carballo Does It All

Javi Carballo scored an amazing four goals

Four goals by Javi Carballo and some exceptional play from Zhu Keung up the flank, plus the already-trademark impenetrable defense which is so typical of the new Glerfoss era - those were the elements that made the huge difference between hosts Liverpool and Tamboerskloof. The Urban Warriors demonstrated all the good sides of their new playing concept, putting the manager's ideas to practice with stunning efficacy. The Reds were given no chance.

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 45217 to Anfield. Everyone was excited about the upcoming Plovdiv derby and the crowd was divided evenly. Liverpool had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. The following players took the field: Bicski - Walter-Birnbauer, van der Wel, Berg - Soto, Isayama, Zandbergen, Nakamura - Canedo, Mistrić, Bach Lauritsen.

TK started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Kluczewski - Svilarski, Paulsen, Commers, Sankar - Keung, Sabag, Kulekin, Talamilla, Beer - Carballo.

The strategy for TK on this day was to use their ability to press. At this time in the match, TK were using their skill at pressing to successfully put pressure on their opponents. After 11 minutes Zhu Keung made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to Javier Carballo who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 0 - 1. It was 0 - 1 at the break. TK claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.

Javier Carballo increased TK's lead to 0 - 2 with a superb free kick strike that flew in just under the far top corner. Zhu Keung of TK was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish Leif Berg, which resulted in the 0 - 3 goal. A penalty was called after 72 minutes, and TK's Javier Carballo made the most of his chance to put his team up by another goal. 0 - 4 for the visitors. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for Javier Carballo. Confident in their lead, TK decided to play a more defensive game at this point. 77 minutes into the game, TK were awarded a penalty and Javier Carballo was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 5 rolling the ball in by the right post. Content with how the game was proceeding, the TK coach let Julien Beckler replace Debendra Sankar after 80 minutes. TK enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.

The most dominating Liverpool player was without a doubt Rui Miguel Canedo. Christoph Walter-Birnbauer on the other hand, had a terrible day. TK's top performer was clearly Pinone Talamilla. On the other hand, Julien Beckler's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 5.

East Victory For India

India was virtually unstoppable against Oman

Due to an all-day shower, 95049 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Fire Ball Town. India had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Lal - Dubey, Roopkumar, Shukla - Bisaria, Kohli, Bhowmick, Porsezhian, Chatterji - Medury, Kaicker.

Oman decided to use a 5-3-2 set up. They fielded: Umar - Bin-Aziz, Simsar, Al-Kaleel, El-Usman, Al Malky - Haj-Omar, Al-Sharif, Radwan - Sarraj, Rahman.

It was an obvious ambition of India to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. For their match strategy, Oman had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Oman often look to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately, Kasim Sarraj's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. It was a bad day for the usually speedy Aloke Shukla. The mud seemed to slow him down. After 30 minutes, the home side was awarded a penalty. The visitors protested wildly but the referee was adamant. Aloke Shukla easily put the 1 - 0 goal away to give the lead to India. After 33 minutes, Hemasita Medury put India ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. Oman mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 34 minutes, but Ahmad Rahman was unable to convert from short range. It was 2 - 0 at the break. This half belonged to India, who controlled the ball 89 percent of the time.

India managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when Sitikantha Bhowmick cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased India's lead to 4 - 0 as Hemasita Medury finished it off competently, firing from an acute angle. The India players could smell victory in the air. Chitrabaahu Kohli wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Cholan Byahatti after 70 minutes. India claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 89 percent.

India's best player was Adinarayana Lal. On the other hand, Aloke Shukla's play was disheartening. Most important Oman player was Mousa Umar. Turk Al-Sharif turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 0.

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 3790 at MSC Arena today. MSC had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Chochoy - Pizzo, Couturier, Milev - Olçun, Camilli, Schwarz, van Heel, Ingelbrant - Talpaz, Nevsal.

TK tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination. The following players took the field: Naydenov - Höfen, Paulsen, Fantz, Sankar, Beckler - Meireles, Ghinzani, Miño, Glerfoss - Emmerink.

TK were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. After 11 minutes of play, Müşfik Olçun gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. MSC put in a good effort on the right, but Duman Nevsal saw his volley fly wide of the mark 18 minutes into the game. TK's Henrik Paulsen got himself booked for a foul. Leo van Heel was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so MSC's Márcio Mota Pinto had to come off the bench. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed MSC's Márcio Mota Pinto a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 35 minutes into the game. After 38 minutes, Julien Couturier put MSC ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. Halftime score was 2 - 0. MSC enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.

After 60 minutes, TK switched Páll Glerfoss with Edward Smyczek, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. The TK captaincy was handed to Edward Smyczek. Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the TK manager used a brief break in play after 70 minutes to give the players new directives. After an industrious effort down the middle, Cataldo Pizzo could have closed the game off after 74 minutes, but his finishing shot hit the post. MSC's Márcio Mota Pinto saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 75 minutes. With 80 minutes played, the TK coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. Philipp Christoph Wottawa came on, Thomas Fantz had to leave the fray. MSC's Duman Nevsal was delighted to score the 3 - 0 goal after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper and into the net, following some good attacking movement on the right wing after 84 minutes. A well-executed free kick by Sven Schwarz after 86 minutes made it 4 - 0 for MSC. At this point in the game, defending their lead became the main priority for MSC. 87 minutes in, MSC's Jocimar Camilli received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. MSC claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.

Cataldo Pizzo performed admirably for MSC. Duman Nevsal was a disappointment, however. TK's best player was Peter Emmerink. Julien Beckler on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 0.

Epic Win Over Leader
Manager Páll Glerfoss was more than happy that the team has found its rhythm

Tamboerskloof took a decisive step towards returning into the big fight for the title, as they earned a precious victory over leader Jelezari, thus shrinking its advantage to a single point. Things are looking increasingly good for the Urban Warriors, who have now gone on a remarkable winning streak.

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 46938 at De Leeukop today. TK had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. Starters: Kluczewski - Møller, Paulsen, Commers, Svilarski - Keung, Sabag, Kulekin, Talamilla, Beer - Carballo.

Jelezari started off with a 5-4-1 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Demaerschalk - Asulin, Cino, Podaru, Gere, Çevik - Trichkov, Warsame, Özgü, Barber - Valkeeniemi.

TK used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field. Jelezari clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. TK's Henrik Paulsen was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 7 minutes. 12 minutes in, the referee awarded TK a penalty. Javier Carballo coolly slotted it home for a 1 - 0 lead. 27 minutes into the game, Adrian-Cornel Podaru finished off a left wing counter attack, scoring 1 - 1 for Jelezari. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. TK claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.

TK's ability to press their opponents all over the field paid off frequently. Coming in from the right, Jelezari had a good opportunity to convert on a counterattack after 58 minutes, but Hristo Trichkov's attempt to finish was easily stopped. With 65 minutes played, Jelezari's Hristo Trichkov fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Hristo Trichkov for diving. Mikael Valkeeniemi of Jelezari received a yellow card after 74 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. After 79 minutes Edward Beer made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to Javier Carballo who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 2 - 1. TK enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 68 percent of possession.

TK's best player was Pinone Talamilla. On the other hand, Jannick Møller's play was disheartening. Most important Jelezari player was Mikael Valkeeniemi. Hristo Trichkov was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 1.
