First Point For Oman

The home crowd were happy with the first point earned at WC

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Oman National Stadium saw a crowd turnout of 75697. Oman tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. The following players had been chosen: Umar - Bin-Aziz, Simsar, El-Usman, Haj-Omar - Radwan, El-Latif, Mahdi, Warraq, Shareef - Haytham.

Suriyah had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Starters: Al Hussein - Safatli, Hamouche, Khaleil - Al Tamer, Mando, Al Rached, Matouk, Al Khouja - Daka, Tarrab.

The wings were the focus of most of Oman's attacks on this day. Suriyah took the lead 11 minutes into the game, scoring the 0 - 1 goal after some elegant plays down the middle.
Ousama Tarrab was the scorer. Suriyah's Hossen Hamouche was shown a yellow card after 20 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The Oman player who had to be helped off the pitch, was Nadir Warraq as he was unable to finish the game. Qasim Hanna El-Chamid came in to finish the match. Halftime score was 0 - 1. This part of the game was a standoff between the teams.

Content with how the game was proceeding, the Suriyah coach let
Diaa' Rihawi replace Abou Al Khouja after 46 minutes. As Zaem Khaleil was substituted 46 minutes into the game, he could take comfort in the fact that his team was in the lead. Waael Zabadany El Beik was the replacement. The Suriyah coach was visibly pleased with the score so far, but still ordered a few tactical changes 46 minutes into the game. The crowd was on its feet 77 minutes into the match, as Oman's Hani El-Usman found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 1 - 1 equaliser. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Suriyah, with an impressive 52 percent possession of the ball.

Mousa Umar performed admirably for Oman. Wahib Haj-Omar turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Suriyah player was without a doubt Radwan Mando. However, Suleiman Daka made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 1.
